The 30 million tonnes of litter dropped each year starts with a single item – and chewing gum is a particularly sticky issue. Gum makes streets look grubby and uncared for, and is even worse when it sticks to our clothes and shoes.

Cleaning gum and the staining it causes off our pavements costs million of pounds every year and 87% of sites surveyed by Keep Britain Tidy are blighted by staining.
