Log your litter-picks
Whether you’re litter-picking on your own or as part of a group, don’t forget to log your litter-picks.
By logging your litter-picks, you are actively supporting our campaigns for a deposit return scheme and extended producer responsibility, which have been proven to drastically reduce litter in other countries – just two examples of how #LitterHeroes are supporting a reduction in litter.

The #LitterHeroes programme is made possible thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery and is supported by the Garfield Weston Foundation.
Litter-picking groups
If you’d like to find a local litter-picking group, contact your local council, check out the #LitterHeroes Facebook community, or find out more about our regional RiverCare and BeachCare projects.
If you’d like to organise your own litter-picking group or event, check out our #LitterHeroes Guide to Organising a Litter-Pick. If you register as an official #LitterHero, we will send you a copy of our Risk Assessment Template, which you can edit and use for your events.
Litter-picking safely
Litter-picking is generally a very safe activity, but we do recommend that you:
- Always wear heavy-duty gloves and use litter-pickers
- Take care when litter-picking near roads, water, or slopes.
