Two initiatives shortlisted for National Recycling Awards 2023

We’re excited to announce that not one, but two of our initiatives have been shortlisted for Campaign of the Year - Over £10k at this year’s National Recycling Awards. The ceremony will be held at City Central at the HAC in London on 16 November 2023.

Buy Nothing New Month inspired people to not buy anything new for a whole month to reduce their impact on the environment (and save money!). The campaign returns this January, so read on for more information.

Our Message from the MRF Worker intervention involved sending letters from recycling workers to local households in Great Yarmouth and Luton, encouraging residents to recycle correctly. If you’re interested in this intervention to tackle recycling contamination, please check out the Case Study or register for the free webinar below.

The National Recycling Awards are the biggest celebration of recycling and waste reduction in the UK. The awards recognise the best recycling and waste reduction initiatives from businesses, organisations, and individuals and we are very excited to have been shortlisted.

Tools to Tackle Recycling Contamination webinar

We're also excited to announce that we will be hosting a webinar on tackling recycling contamination at 10am on 3 October 2023. This webinar will focus on four pilot interventions Keep Britain Tidy has developed and tested in recent years designed to change contamination behaviour, including Message from the MRF Worker.

The webinar is free to attend and open to all. Register here.

Buy Nothing New Month Webinar

^

We hosted a webinar in June 2023 for those working on waste prevention and sustainable consumption to present an overview of the Buy Nothing New Month campaign, its main outputs and outcomes and our learnings. We also looked ahead to the next Buy Nothing New Month in January 2024, including our plans to involve more partners in the campaign and the new empirical research that will inform campaign development. You can watch a recording of the webinar and download the webinar slides.
