Marriott Heathrow Awarded Green Key Award

Keep Britain Tidy are delighted to have awarded London Heathrow Marriott Hotel their first Green Key Award.

Marriott UK has chosen Green Key as their preferred eco accreditation and London Heathrow Marriott are the 1st Marriott hotel in the UK to have been awarded the accolade. They join 13 Marriott Hotels worldwide that also hold the prestigious international standard of excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism industry. 

This respected eco-label represents a commitment by businesses that their tourism establishments adhere to the strict criteria as stipulated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). A Green Key stands for an establishment’s promise to its guests that by opting to stay with such an establishment, they are helping to make a difference on an environmental and sustainability level. The high environmental standards expected of these establishments are maintained through rigorous documentation and frequent audits. the programme is managed in England by Keep Britain Tidy.

Keep Britain Tidy handed over the Green Key award after enjoying a ‘dinner in the dark’ hosted by London Heathrow Marriott as part of their annual ‘Earth Hour’ celebrations. This year London Heathrow Marriott also treated guests to a ‘glow show’ in the lobby, and switched off all non-essential lighting and encouraging hotel guests and the local community to do the same.
