#LitterHeroes across the nation pledge 462,410 bags during 10th GB Spring Clean
Keep Britain Tidy today thanked the army of litter-pickers who pledged to collect 462,410 bags of litter during its 10th Great British Spring Clean.
More than 342,000 volunteers in every corner of the country took part in the national effort to remove bags of rubbish from our streets, parks and beaches.
Over the course of the campaign, ancient and bizarre treasures have been collected across the nation, including a retro mannequin, drinks cans dating back 40 years and someone's dreadlock!
The charity, which is the leading organisation in the country campaigning against litter, has also announced the winners of the Great British Spring Clean awards, which recognise volunteers, businesses, faith groups, and local authorities that have gone above and beyond to support the campaign.
This year’s winners are:

The Great British Spring Clean, now in its 10th anniversary year, is the nation’s biggest mass-action campaign.
It has been hailed a huge success after individuals, community groups, businesses and local authorities joined forces to protect the environment - and local wildlife – throughout the annual movement.
At the same time, 265,984 pupils in schools across the country took part in the Great Big School Clean, learning about the impact litter has on our wildlife and seeing for themselves that small actions, when taken together, can make a big difference.
Keep Britain Tidy’s Chief Executive, Allison Ogden-Newton OBE, said: “Thanks to people-power we are celebrating the 10th anniversary year of the Great British Spring Clean and it’s clear that the impact has been huge.
“These impressive figures prove that when we take simple actions to show our love for where we live, we become part of a collective of like-minded people with an unstoppable drive to protect the environment.
“We are truly in awe of the efforts of our supporters and volunteers across communities, schools, voluntary organisations, businesses and local authorities.”
Around 96% of people surveyed after 2024's campaign agreed that the Great British Spring Clean reduces the impact of litter on wildlife and the environment, and 83% said it inspired them to do more to protect the environment.
This year’s campaign was made possible thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery, media partners the Mirror and Clear Channel, headline partner Calisen Impact Charitable Trust and supporting partners KFC, Mars Wrigley, McDonald’s, Nestlé, Pepsi MAX and Walkers.
