Becoming a #LitterHeroes Ambassador

#LitterHeroes Ambassadors go above and beyond to support their community to engage in litter-picking activities. They advocate for other environmental activities and are proactive in promoting and taking part in Keep Britain Tidy’s campaigns.

Since 2018, the #LitterHeroes programme has been supporting the most dedicated litter-picking volunteers across England. We now have a network of almost 200 #LitterHeroes Ambassadors, who go above and beyond as inspirational leaders within their communities.  Our Ambassadors are passionate about taking action, have an infectious enthusiasm and individually and collectively are making a huge impact.

Become a #LitterHeroes Ambassador

Have you got what it takes to become a #LitterHeroes Ambassador? If so, we’d love you to join us!

During May and early June 2024, applications were open to join the #LitterHeroes Ambassador programme. Applications are now closed. We are currently reviewing these and welcoming our new Ambassadors aboard. Keep your eye on the #LitterHeroes Facebook group to meet them over the coming months.

We know there are more exceptional group leaders out there though and so we will be opening recruitment to take on more #LitterHeroes Ambassadors again in 2025!

If you are interested in becoming a #LitterHeroes Ambassador, then please register here. We will contact you as soon as a date to open recruitment again has been decided.

The #LitterHeroes programme and Ambassador role is made possible thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery and is supported by the Garfield Weston Foundation.

Your role as an Ambassador

^

As a #LitterHeroes Ambassador you will be passionate about eradicating litter and will work within your local community to support the litter picking activities of others. You will lead an existing group, which hosts regular events throughout the year. Your group might undertake other environmental activities alongside litter picking too.

To support Keep Britain Tidy, you will promote and take part in our campaigns, such as the Great British Spring Clean. You will encourage new volunteers to connect with Keep Britain Tidy and register as #LitterHeroes.

You will also record your individual and group litter-picking data, via Collect & Count, to help us build a national picture of the scale and impact of litter picking volunteering and the litter problem.
