About Us

Keep Britain Tidy is a leading independent environmental charity that works to inspire, educate and enable people to value and protect the environment on their doorstep so everyone can love where they live.

There's more to it than litter-picking

Through our national campaigns, programmes, research and innovations, we aim to encourage and support communities to reduce resource use, waste and litter and live more sustainably, as well as improve the quality of public spaces.

We do this through our programmes - including Eco-Schools, the Green Flag Award for parks and green spaces and the Blue Flag/Seaside Awards for beaches - and our annual campaigns, including the Great British Spring Clean and Buy Nothing New Month.

We also do this by harnessing the power of our army of volunteers through our Litter Heroes and RiverCare & BeachCare volunteering programmes.

We're committed to using our position as a longstanding, recognised and respected charity to advocate for change in order to tackle the major environmental issues facing us.

Our work

Our planet is drowning in plastic and waste, global warming is having a devastating impact on communities worldwide and, since the 1970’s, the UK has lost almost half of its biodiversity, ranking at the bottom of the G7.

Our strategy and impact

We are facing some massive environmental challenges, both locally and globally. From littering and fly-tipping on our doorsteps and in our countryside to climate change, with all its devastating consequences, we all have a part to play in tackling these issues and we can all make a difference.
