Muhammad Ali

Board Member

Muhammad is a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) with more than 15 years of experience in leading on developing sustainability strategies and delivering environmental improvement programmes across various large public and private sector organisations. In his former role, Muhammad served as a local authority councillor and a cabinet member (2018-2022) responsible for transport, climate change, parks and waste and recycling. He brings a wealth of strategic awareness and knowledge of how local authorities are keeping streets clean, parks open and tackling climate change, whilst responding to financial challenges and political priorities.

Muhammad currently works as a Programme Director for a large central government department and leads the department’s climate change and sustainability unit. He has an MSc in Environmental Management from the University of Nottingham, is a Chartered Environmentalist and full member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).

In Muhammad’s own words “I am excited to join Keep Britain Tidy and looking forward to share my knowledge and expertise with other members to put a strategy in place to work with various stakeholders to improve the environment and respond to challenges posed by climate change."
