Salary:          Waste Monitor: £9 per hour

                   Plus shift allowance (£9 per complete shift worked)                                                   

Location: Across the Borough of Basildon

Contract: Casual Contract


Basildon Council is working with Keep Britain Tidy to conduct a monitoring exercise capturing data on household waste and recycling behaviours across the borough. For this activity you will be working alongside a waste/recycling collection crew on a number of collection rounds, with early morning starts from 7am (start times may be subject to change).

For this project we are looking for up to three Waste Monitors, who will work on specific days between Monday 2 September 2019 and Friday 20 September 2019.

The monitoring exercise is expected to commence on Monday 2 September 2019 and will last for a period of three weeks. There will be mandatory days of training on Wednesday 29 August 2019 and a possible site visit and practice run on Thursday 29 August 2019 (TBC). You must be available to attend these dates. 

Hours of work each day are expected to be 6.5 hours, excluding 30 mins unpaid break. Please see the job description for more details. Additional paid time may be required for data input.

These positions will provide excellent experience for those looking for a career in the environmental sector, especially the waste and recycling industry, and are paid at or above the Living Wage. Further work opportunities may be available at the end of this contract.
