"Be the change that you wish to see in the world"

Plastics are never far from the news - the statistics and footage are upsetting, and the scale of the problem can feel overwhelming. But in Gandhi's words,

"Be the change that you wish to see in the world."

This Sunday is International Earth Day and this year's theme is "End Plastic Pollution". We can all do something to help, and together these little 'somethings' add up to a big difference.

  • Change one thing: maybe say no to a straw, take a reusable bag next time you go shopping, or carry a refillable water bottle.
  • Tell one person: whoever you spend Earth Day with, start a conversation about plastic pollution - who knows where that conversation will take you.
  • Make one choice: next time you go shopping, could you make one switch? Maybe buy yogurt in family tubs instead of individual pots, to cut your plastic use.
  • Pick one piece: if everyone picked up one piece of plastic litter (or even one piece a day), just think of the difference we’d make together. Want to get involved? Join us for the Great Plastic Pick Up.
  • Pledge one promise: turn one of these changes or choices into a personal pledge - and try to keep it going until next year's Earth Day.

Thank you for doing one thing for International Earth Day. Together we are ending plastic pollution.

You can help make a difference by sparing just a few hours for the Great Plastic Pick Up, 11-13 May 2018.
