We are proud to announce that Steve Backshall, TV presenter, naturalist and novelist, is the latest celebrity to become a voluntary ambassador for Keep Britain Tidy.
The BAFTA-Award winning Deadly 60 presenter will be supporting our litter-picking campaign, the Great British Spring Clean in 2017, as well as helping us to spread the message of how much damage litter can do to the natural world.
Steve recently attended the parliamentary launch of the Great British Spring Clean, and spoke passionately about his love for nature and his frustration at the litter that harms our wonderful wildlife.
Steve said: “' Litter dropped in a British street is a horror show for wildlife, so I'm supporting Keep Britain Tidy.”
Allison Ogden-Newton, Chief Executive of Keep Britain Tidy, said: “ Steve is an inspirational personality who is genuinely passionate about our environment, and the impact we have on the wildlife that we share the world with. It is fantastic that Steve will be joining us in getting as many people as possible to sign up to the Great British Spring Clean, so that we can improve our country for everyone and everything that lives here.”
Steve joins TV presenter Kirstie Allsopp and naturalist Chris Packham and TV presenter and gardener, Christine Walkden, as an ambassador for the charity.
The #GBSpringClean will be encouraging tidy-up activity throughout the month of March 2017, with a particular focus on registering thousands of clean-up events over the long weekend from 3-5 March.
You can go and hear about Steve’s adventures from the man himself as he’s currently on tour around the country. Find out more here http://www.stevebackshall.com/tour/
