#GBSpringClean litter-acy competitions

After the phenomenal success of last year's #GBSpringClean, with over 1,500 tonnes of litter collected, its back next year from the 2-4 March 2018. To support the campaign, we are running two fantastic litter-acy competitions for schools.

Primary creative writing competition
The challenge is to write a short poem about litter. Our national winners from KS1 and KS2 will be published in a Keep Britain Tidy ‘Litter Book of Poems’

KS3 and above persuasive writing competition
The challenge is to write a (max 500 word) article on the impact of litter and why we shouldn't be embarrassed to pick it up. Winning articles will be published on the Keep Britain Tidy and the Eco-Schools websites and in a national magazine.

How to get involved
Please submit your competition entries using our downloadable (primary and secondary) templates via email to gbspringclean@keepbritaintidy.org by Friday 16 March 2018. Remember to include your name, school, age, address and a contact phone number.

Don't forget, if you are an Eco-School (or would like to become one) then getting involved in these competitions (and the #GBSpringClean itself) can be used as evidence for the litter topic when applying for your Green Flag award. Throughout your Eco-Schools journey, it can also support the steps - linking to the Curriculum, informing & involving and monitoring & evaluating.
