Joining forces to wage war on litter

We are delighted to be joining forces with veteran charity Walking with the Wounded - to support veterans and improve the environment on people's doorsteps - with the creation of a Litter Force.

Launching in Manchester, with a group of veterans joining us for a litter pick, the city will see the partnership's pilot project this year.

Together, we'll be supporting volunteering opportunities for veterans, at the heart of the communities they live in. Using the skills they've developed in the military - including planning, co-ordination and communications - our Litter Force will work with businesses, councils and communities to create a better environment for everyone.

Whilst helping to keep our streets and communities clean, the veterans will be growing skills and experiences for future employment, whilst improving health and wellbeing for themselves and their communities.

“We are delighted to be working with Walking with the Wounded and with their support and that of the Litter Force, this movement will be unstoppable.”

-Allison Ogden-Newton, Keep Britain Tidy Chief Executive

“We are very pleased to have become a partner of Keep Britain Tidy, we hope that this partnership will be one that will assist in keeping the streets and communities litter free. It is also a great opportunity for veterans of HM Forces to get involved and develop projects in relation to volunteering and employment.”

- Gary Lamb, Walking with the Wounded Director
