Funding announced for new green spaces 10 August 2017
The London mayor, together with Transport for London, have announced a £86 million fund for 'greener and healthier' public spaces.
Using this money, boroughs will have the opportunity to transform their neighbourhoods and town centres, improving health and air quality in their area. With support from their communities, they can use this funding to make their streets more attractive and accessible, to be enjoyed by everyone. Ideas could include improving cycling infrastructure or widening walking routes. Any improvements will be supported by local people, to make sure it will really benefit their communities.
And excitingly, the fund can be used to create new green spaces. Let's hope these new spaces will join the hundreds of other fantastic green spaces in London proudly flying their Green Flag and benefiting their local people and the city's visitors.
