Start learning about the importance of the world's forests

The charity Forest Stewardship Council UK is currently running two great competitions. The aim of the competitions is to raise awareness of the FSC logo and the importance of the world’s forests. They also have a range of free educational resources to support schools, from activities and lesson plans, to case studies and factsheets.
Simple code-breaker competition
See if you can decipher the FSC message using the leaf code and be in with a chance to win some great prizes, including Go Ape vouchers, gardening sets, wooden craft kits, footballs, books and FSC goody bags.

Colouring competition
Choose between a squirrel, butterfly or orangutans - or enter all three! Simply download the FSC’s poster templates and colour them in. You can be as imaginative as you like. Prizes include books, wooden craft kits and toys, footballs and FSC goody bags.

These competitions are open to all ages and the deadline for entries is 16th December 2011.

Educational Resources
The FSC have a range of free educational resources to support schools wishing to promote the importance of the world’s forests and the role of FSC.
As well as posters, postcards, pencils, factsheets and case studies, FSC UK has also developed a series of lesson plans, aimed primarily at Key Stage 2 children, and a range of activity ideas suitable for various age groups.
