Clean hair, clean home, clean beaches

To help clean up beaches after the long, hot summer, we have partnered with Fairy, Head & Shoulders and Tesco, and are inviting you to nominate your favourite beaches to be one of nine across the UK that gets a clean-up as part of 'The Big Beach Clean'.

A large amount of plastic waste found on beaches goes unrecycled, so we need to think and act differently to turn the tide on beach plastics, because every bottle makes a difference. In their drive to help clean up, Fairy and Head & Shoulders have also launched new bottles, made from up to 100% recycled plastic, including recovered beach plastics.

We know that 80% of ocean litter originates on land. What is dropped on our city streets often ends up in our seas. So everyone can do their bit to prevent ocean litter by opting for recycled and recyclable plastics, ensuring that those plastics get recycled again and, of course, limiting their reliance on single-use plastics where possible.”

We will be cleaning the nine beaches that get the most votes, in September and December. Voting closes on 11 September and the winning beaches will be announced 18 September. So get voting!
