Don’t give your money to charity hoaxers claiming to be from Keep Britain Tidy
28 June 2010

Keep Britain Tidy is warning people not to give money to door-to-door collectors claiming to be from the charity.
The warning comes after it received reports about ‘door-knockers’ posing as authorised Keep Britain Tidy collectors in the Reigate area of Surrey.
Keep Britain Tidy’s Helen Bingham said: ‘Although Keep Britain Tidy is a charity, it never does door-to-door collections asking people for money.
‘If someone does knock on your door claiming to be from Keep Britain Tidy, do not give them any money. If you feel threatened in any way, contact the police.
‘If people want to support Keep Britain Tidy, they can help us by organising or taking part in one of our Big Tidy Ups, signing up as a supporter on our website –
www.keepbritaintidy.org - or simply by putting their litter in a bin, and none of these things will cost them a penny.’
