GMTV Presenter Supports Keep Britain Tidy!

28 October 2009

Keep Britain Tidy was the talk of the morning on GMTV as presenter Richard Arnold spoke of his hate of litter.

In a feature called 'Grumpy Morning TV' in which each of the presenters share their pet hates, the resident tv critic revealed that he is a passionate supporter of our issues.

During the feature, Richard gave a background on the Keep Britain Tidy campaign, and told how he plans to follow in our footsteps.

Rhe clip reveals that may be thanks to the "celebrity sparkle" that our famous supporters have brought to our campaign that has grabbed the attention of the celebrity correspondent!

Arnold went on to say that his personal bugbear is chewing gum litter and he even lends a hand street cleansers to help remove the sticky stuff from the streets of London.

He then gets on his soap box to appeal to the public to “work together for a cleaner and greener country”.

Nicola Peate from Keep Britain Tidy said, "We know that litter is an issue that makes a lot of people see red so it is great that Richard is taking a stand.

"It is great to see someone talking so passionately about the fight against litter and doing someting about it!"

Well done Jackie on your efforts!!! Yes its really annoying when some people justify dropping litter by claiming "It keeps people in a job". I think that is an insult to the hard work cleansing teams do nationwide and the barrage of litter they collect. 2.2million bits of litter get dropped every day! Litter costs the taxpayer £780m a year - what a waste of money! Please ignore the silly people criticising your litter picks. At Keep Britain Tidy we think you are a star!

Further to Richard's rant on TV, my pet hate is people who continually cirtisize and make negative, unhelpful comments about my litter-picking in the area where I live. (What I call the "that's what you pay your Council Tax for" brigade. If people expect the Local Council operatives to go through the area with a tooth comb, they would have to pay a lot more Council Tax than they currently pay. I doubt these people every challenge the litter-louts so they should lay-off those that take pride in where they live and pick up!!! I somethimes feel that I am the one that is doing something wrong.
