Sign Up for the Biggest Litter Pick in History!
27 August 2008
The countdown is on for our Big Tidy Up campaign.
A staggering 5,000 groups have already registered to take part.
The month-long blitz on litter will launch on Monday 1st September. It aims to restore a sense of community pride and encourage everyone to clean up their patch.
Across the nation, community groups, schools and businesses have pledged support.
It is hoped more than 10,000 clean-ups will take place and half a million bags of litter collected.
With thousands of groups already signed up, the campaign is sure to get off to a flyer.
The Big Tidy-Up comes 50 years after the very first Litter Act was passed. We want the Big Tidy Up to be the biggest litter pick in history - but we need your help!
To register your clean-up event go to www.thebigtidyup.org. Your group will be sent a free kit to get you started.
Partners involved in the Big Tidy-Up include: BTCV (The British Trust for Conservation Volunteers), CleanupUK, National Federation of Women's Institutes, CPRE (Campaign to Protect Rural England), Thames21, Waste Watch.
Thousands of WI groups have already signed up.
Keep Britain Tidy employees will also be holding two tidy-ups of their own next month - at our annual staff conference and near our base in Wigan.
