Bated Breath For Beach Award Winners
30 March 2007
A brand new beach award which recognises the great diversity of England's coastline will announce its first ever winners next week (Thursday 5th April).
Quality Coast Award gives the thumbs up to those beaches that offer all types of visitors a quality experience.
Alan Woods, Chief Executive of ENCAMS who organise the awards said: ?The traditional seaside experience of ice cream, a stroll along the prom and building sand castles is a perfect day out for some, but others prefer to spend their time at the beach differently. Our amazing coastline is used for all sorts of activities and this is the first time ever that it has been acknowledged.?
Quality Coast Award gives credit to those beaches that are a clean place to enjoy a range of activities. It is a supported by a website which gives the public the chance to search for coastal spots according to what they want from their visit or the facilities they need.
Listed in next week's award winners will be beaches that:
- Are a great place to take the family throughout the summer season, with great expanses of sand where children can play
- Remote hideaways that have never before been recognised as a good coastal place to go
- Places ideal for swimming and other water activities
- Beaches that are a great place to go all year round
