Straight-talking Kirstie Talks Litter To MP’s
29 June 2011
Powerful speeches from Kirstie Allsopp, McDonald’s and the Secretary of State Caroline Spelman were delivered at the Parliamentary launch of the Love Where You Live campaign yesterday.
Kirstie talked about the need for personal responsibility and emphasised that litter is not the fault of the products that are dropped. Nick Hindle, the Senior Vice President of Communications at McDonald’s took this sentiment further by acknowledging that over 100,000 per year is spent on clearing litter from the streets of the West End by one central London franchisee.
The common theme of the speeches was the need for a united approach that was less about blame, and more about the personal responsibility of individuals, who have as much interest in the appearance of local communities as businesses and brands.
Campaign partners Wrigley's, Coca Cola, Imperial Tobacco and Network Rail also represented the campaign at the event.
The week of Love Where You Live takes place between 19 – 23rd September 2011. Events will be taking place throughout the summer to promote the campaign. Get involved, make a pledge or just click ‘like’ today
