Coming soon - Talking Bins!
26 September 2011
As part of the Love Where You Live campaign's aim to reduce littering in England, 25 talking rubbish bins will soon be installed across central London with additional bins being trialled in Liverpool. The bins look just like ordinary bins or recycle bins but they have a surprise in store - they talk back!
"I'm singing in the bin" and "Rubbish keeps falling on my head" are just some of the vocal messages that have been contributed by actors Amanda Holden and Michael Palin, rugby player Kenny Logan and ENO soprano Janis Kelly. Additional messages will be adapted to suit each location so Liverpool will have a bin featuring Mike McCartney singing The Scaffold's 'Thank you very much', while Covent Garden's bin has an operatic theme.
In addition to talking bins, Love Where You Live is also introducing Loop the Litter, which brings the fun of basketball to the litter bin.
The bins will be installed shortly and remain in London for two months, after which time they'll tour the UK, returning back to the capital for the Olympic Games.
