Is it illegal to let your dog foul?
Allowing your dog to foul in a public place is illegal.
Many local authorities and Parish councils have ‘Dog Control Orders’, which make it easier to introduce dog controls on private land. Dog control orders can be used to make the person in charge of a dog clear up any mess that it leaves behind.
The penalty for committing an offence contained in a Dog Control Order is a maximum fine of £1,000. Alternatively, a fixed penalty of up to may be offered in place of prosecution.
