Bank Holiday Monday: Join the rest of the UK for a national Green Picnic!
28 May 2010

The Green Flag Awards scheme, in association with National Family Week, is encouraging members of the public to head down to their local park this bank holiday Monday for the first ever national Family Week picnic.
Backed by National Family Week, the biggest annual celebration of family life in the UK, the green Family Week picnic is the perfect way to spend time with your friends and family this Monday (31 May 2010).
Families who roll out their picnic blanket on Monday are being urged by the Green Flag team to think green and do their bit for a tidy Britain.
Paul Todd, Green Flag Awards manager, said:
“ We’d not only like to see as many picnicking families as possible head down to their local Green Flag site this Monday – we’d like to see people considering their environmental impact too.
“Try sourcing your food and drinks locally, make sure waste and packaging is recycled where possible and do your best to travel to and from the picnic sustainably – why not take the bus, walk or cycle?”
