About this park/green space

Reddish Vale Country Park spans 161 hectares along the River Tame in the heart of Stockport. From Tiviot Dale, across Woodhall Fields, Willow Grove Woods, Blackberry Slopes and Sunnyside Woods, there could be a little piece of countryside nearer to home than you think. Reddish Vale provides a green corridor linking the town centre with Denton in Tameside at the north and Woodley to the west. There are walks, cycle and bridleways that link with the Goyt Etherow, Saddleworth and Longdendale trails as well as long distance routes such as the Midshires Way and TransPennine Trail. Sand martins and kingfishers nest in the river banks. The mill ponds and wetlands are visited by geese, herons, grebes, cormorants, coots and a variety of ducks. In warm evenings Noctule, Daubenton and Pipistrelle bats fly over the ponds and river. There are opportunities for angling and orienteering, as well as horse riding. The Visitor Centre open five afternoons a week throughout the year. The Reddish Vale Rangers and the Friends of the Vale group provide a busy programme of activities including practical conservation task days, craft events, wildlife walks and an education programme for schools. We always welcome volunteers!
