Victoria Park is a much loved and well-maintained park situated in the residential heart of Stretford in Trafford. The park is over one hundred years old and is carefully managed to reflect its Victorian heritage and to cater for the contemporary needs of the diverse local community. The enthusiastic Friends group, together with Trafford Council and the two dedicated on site gardeners achieve a balance between wildlife, sustainability, art, heritage, education, play, sport and leisure. Children and young people play an active part in the life of the park and popular events include an Easter event in the under five's play area, where spring bulbs have been planted by the children and four magical chainsaw sculptures designed by them live happily. Summer sports on Victoria's Lawn is a an active and yet relaxed affair which everyone enjoys, as well as the Christmas Carnival and an annual dog show 'Scrufts' where four legged friends enjoy the park and messages of responsible dog ownership fill the clean air. Victoria Park has an inclusive bird feeding area that is wheelchair friendly and has tactile interpretation with Braille and large print of the birds of Victoria Park that is of benefit to blind and visually impaired visitors. The park also has a wildlife garden that is rich in flora and fauna, which has been created by local people and children from the local schools. Victoria Park is a unique, beautiful exciting Park that welcomes all.
