How to Run a Street Champion Scheme
Price: £299.00
Street champion schemes recruit local residents and others on a voluntary basis to help improve the quality of their local environment by identifying and reporting incidents of litter, graffiti, fly-tipping and other issues, as well as carrying out clean-up activities themselves.
Course Aims
This Masterclass aims to increase delegates' knowledge of how to launch and develop a champion scheme using the Street Champion Framework developed by Keep Britain Tidy and Neighbourhoods NW.
Many street champion schemes already in place across the country are having a very positive effect on local communities. Keep Britain Tidy and Neighbourhoods NW have studied the most effective schemes and developed a flexible framework for others to use as a guide to setting up their own.
Course Objectives
Using interactive learning techniques and with access to the complete version of the Street Champion Framework, delegates will gain full knowledge of how to plan a new scheme from the beginning, recruit volunteers and manage them, set up reporting and recording mechanisms, deal with insurance and health and safety issues, and make the scheme sustainable over the long term.
On completion of the course delegates will be able to demonstrate detailed knowledge of the six main segments of the Street Champion Framework, each of them a vital part of establishing an effective scheme:
- Planning a street champion scheme
- People issues
- Recruiting volunteers
- Putting the scheme into action
- Marketing and publicity
- Monitoring and evaluation
