Course Aims

This Defra course aims to help LEQ Enforcement Officers understand and utilise the powers available to tackle enviro crimes effectively.

Offences covered include those relating to:

  • Littering
  • Graffiti & Flyposting
  • Dog Control
  • Nuisance Vehicles
  • Fly-tipping & Waste
  • Noise

Using problem solving techniques, delegates are taught how to identify situations where enforcement action is appropriate and to follow correct and effective procedure.

On completion of the course delegates will be able to demonstrate the ability to issue FPNs for a number of offences with consideration for conflict resolution and health and safety.

This course also aims to ensure officers understand the importance of obtaining evidence with a view to prosecution for serious offences and non-payment of FPNs.

Each delegate will receive a comprehensive LEQ Enforcement Manual and a practical On-Street Guide that complement this course.

Objectives

By the end of this training delegates will be able to:

Demonstrate a practical knowledge of enforceable LEQ issues

  • Use relevant legislation appropriately
  • Issue FPNs correctly and effectively
  • Act with regard for health, safety and hostile situations
  • Understand the processes involved in obtaining evidence to enable successful prosecutions.

Who would benefit by attending this course?

The course is aimed at local authority enforcement officers with responsibilities for enforcing LEQ legislation. This predominantly relates to fixed penalty notice activity but the course also demonstrates how and when to recognise more serious offences so they can be reported to superiors for action.

Delegate cost

The cost for attending this four day course is £850 & VAT. Cost includes refreshments, lunch, intensive manual and “street guide”.

In-house delivery

If you have more than 8 members of staff who you would like to train, then bespoke training will give you much more value for money.Whilst saving money other benefits include:-

£5000.00 + VAT for maximum of 15 delegates - 4 consecutive days' training

£5200.00 + VAT for maximum of 15 delegates - 2 x 2 days split days' training

We recognise that you may not have a large number of staff to train, so why not invite colleagues from neighbouring authorities and associations who would also benefit from this option, and who could share the training costs.

As a host you need to provide a suitable training venue, equipment and refreshments (including lunch for each day's training).
