Supporting businesses to help themselves
Harrow Council has recently piloted action to help support a local business and tackle anti-social behaviour related to the premises.
A chicken shop in Harrow was seen to be allowing anti-social behaviour and truanting to take place in the premises; children were given refuge behind the counter when police were called to investigate complaints.
The owner of the shop also had issues with the letting of his flats above the shop and had previously been targeted by Environmental Health concerning food safety and shop regulations.
The project has been received very well by the owner, who now sees all the agencies including the police as providers of support rather than antagonists. The partnership now works together to tackle nuisance at school leaving time.
