TOWN CENTRE BENCHMARKING CLUB
Benchmarking your environmental performance against other similar Town Centres can be a valuable management tool, enabling you to assess performance, aid decision making and deploy resources effectively. This can help you tackle street cleansing issues such as litter, chewing gum, fly-posting, graffiti, etc.
We have now developed the new LEQS Pro system, which encompasses all of our past knowledge and experience and allows a wider audience access to this new survey. The basic package is FREE and provides great benefits. It is a flexible system where you can interrogate your data more effectively to make improvements to the trading environment, media campaigns, community and business involvement as well as targeted service management. We would like to build up a LEQ data set for all Town & City Centres and produce robust benchmarking in order to raise standards. We are initially looking to work with 100 Town & City Centres of all sizes on this project to ensure we get a comparable and reliable data set.
The system will allow you to:

Benchmark your progress against the most applicable centre(s) in the benchmarking club, as well as the whole group, and share best practice

Measure the cleanliness of your centre and highlight your highest and lowest performing areas to allocate resources appropriately and help change perceptions.

Choose from a core set of survey elements: litter and detritus, graffiti, fly-posting, staining (inc. chewing gum) weeds, dog fouling, fly-posting and fly-tipping

Market your centre as a clean and tidy place for visitors and business investors

Help support local businesses and local communities manage the impact on the their local environment and encourage them to make lasting improvements

Identify the sources and causes of poor performance, which will allow you to focus on the real key issues and to tackle them as effectively as possible, with the right tools at the right time

Take interventions to improve specific parts of your centre, for example tackling cigarette litter

Monitor cleaning contractors working in your centre, to ensure you are getting value for money and contractors are working as efficiently as possible.

As the system is so flexible, we would like to maintain some parameters for the benchmarking club to ensure that the data is truly comparable. These parameters include the primary or secondary retail areas, frequency of surveys or indicators selected. We will discuss this with you once you have registered.
Once we have reached our targeted registration number there will opportunities to network, share ideas, interactive forums, training and online resources.
