Targeted events

Keep Britain Tidy has been organising conferences and seminars on issues surrounding cleaner, greener places for the past 16 years. Our targeted events provide delegates with an invaluable insight into the issues, up-to-date information on policy, opportunities to network and share best practice, and bring to you knowledgeable and high profile speakers who know what they are talking about.  Our events are aimed at professionals dealing with cleaner, greener issues.

Making our events sustainable

We are working towards making all our events as sustainable as we can. We currently take the following steps:

VENUE

  • Look for venues that are easily accessible by public transport
  • Events staff travel by public transport or car share
  • Provide delegates with directions by public transport or on foot
  • Use not for profit venues where possible
  • Ask the venue about their environmental management policy, with particular regard to recycling, energy efficiency and water conservation
  • Use electronic signage where feasible

CATERING

  • Ask for locally sourced seasonal food where possible
  • Ask for Fairtrade tea and coffee
  • Disposable items should not be used unless they are biodegradable
  • Avoid the use of bottled mineral water. Drinking water should be supplied in jugs or from a water cooler with reusable or biodegradable cups
  • Avoid the use of individually packaged items where possible
  • Ask for actual cups for refreshment purposes as opposed to paper or plastic ones

PRINTED MATERIALS

  • Event invitations and confirmations are sent out electronically or via secure registration on our website
  • Delegate packs are of 100% recycled paper with 80% biodegradable corn starch pens
  • We never include paper copies of presentations in our packs
  • Presentations are always posted on the website or sent electronically to delegates after the event
  • We use plastic name badge holders with paper name inserts. These are collected at the end of events and the badge holders reused
  • We keep the use of printed materials for delegate packs to a minimum
