If dog is fed correct amount of good quality food then it will produce a small firm poop. The piles of squish are the result of overfeeding with cheap bulked up food.

There is a problem with newspaper as a medium for transporting dog waste. It's porous, that means it leaks fluids. So another container is needed between the poop and the disposal site. Imagine a dog owner walking a dog. The dog poops and the owner places newspaper under the dog to colllect the waste. The newspaper is folded up around the waste - then what happens? The dog walker/owner has to carry the leaking, wet newspaper until he/she finds a suitable container or waste bin in which to place the newspaper. it's just not practicable. As a dog owner, I woudn't do this. it's a great idea for my own garden but then i have other solutions for that situation. what is needed is a good, waterproof, leakproof bag, and these are readily available. what is lacking is the motivation to use them. If this motivation is lacking, then it is hardly likely that the dog owner will take the trouble to carry old newspapers with them on a walk, and use them, knowing that leakage is likely and the outcome may be very unpleasant.

Would it be possible for dog owners to put down newspaper when their dog is going to poo! then it can be picked up and disposed of easily and the paper will decompose unlike plastic.and using old papers is free and recycling at the same time.
