#GetYourFeetWet on the North West Coast 15 May 2017

Our campaign for cleaner beaches and seas, LOVEmyBEACH, launches their #getyourfeetwet campaign this week celebrating the cleanest seas in 20 years on the North West coast.

The campaign, which has been running for five years, has contributed to huge water quality improvements in the region. In 2016 all 31 bathing waters were 100% compliant with EU standards.

That’s why, this May Bank Holiday weekend, the LOVEmyBEACH campaign is calling for residents and visitors to head to the coast and get their feet wet.

Research shows that over 50% of adults haven’t been near the coast in the last year and with the latest bathing water results there’s no good reason not to. A trip to the seaside is a good value day out which appeals to all generations. Across the North West there are 31 recommended beaches which are all safe to enjoy, including Blackpool, Ainsdale & St Bees.

You can find out more about these beaches including facilities, upcoming events and how to help keep the beaches clean at www.lovemybeach.org Whether you chose to walk the dog, build a sandcastle or go for a paddle please share your photos and ‘foosies’ (the selfie for your feet!) using the hashtag #getyourfeetwet.

Later this month, we will be announcing our Blue Flag and Seaside Awards, celebrating the best beaches and ensuring visitors a clean, safe, attractive and well-managed coastal stretch.
